This is a guest blog submitted by Point_of_No_R3turn.A friend of mine once said that she believes that most women will marry the male version of their best girl friend.
I would have to agree with that, because the guy I am interested in happens to have a personality very similar to my best friend (he's her brother, but that's besides the point). Out of my friends who have gotten married, I would have to say a lot of them follow this pattern as well.
Do you think guys will marry the female version of their best guy friend? Just wonderin'.

I will marry my best GIRL friend. She will most definitely NOT be like my best guy friend if everything goes the way I want it to.
going back to the original statement what happens when my best friend is a guy...? [[and i'm a girl]]
Doubtful. (Thinks). No, my BF and my best friend have absolutely nothing in common other than the fact that they both adore me.
But I can see what you are getting at, I think some do.
Xo
I got told chicks either marry someone like their father or completely different..
well, I believe it's very important to marry someone that you get along with, and usually it's someone you have a lot in common with.
I've never been married, so who knows?
All I know is guys will marry someone that you have a deep emotional connection with.
I do believe that. I believe that a person's personality reflects on their birthday and my best friend and the guy I'm currently with have the EXACT same birthday, and he's the only guy I've ever felt as comfortable as I do with my best friend.
Not all do. It's like everything in life, some do and some don't. I dated my best friend, we broke up and we are still best friends. We are too much alike for that relationship to have worked out.
@godofthelost@xanga - Don't worry, darling. I promise not to morph into a dude once we're married. haha XD
Yes, I have every intention of marrying my best friend. Who just happens to also be my SO. And the love of my life... hmmm.... I think I should be prohibited from this question... :P
No. I think guys work differently about those sorts of things. Mind you, my boyfriend is nothing like my best friend, so I don't think I follow that pattern either.
No. My boyfriend and my best friend are complete opposites. He is just like me..not my best friend.
All of my guy friends that are married are married to their best female friend actually. Its kind of cute =)
I'm currently dating my best male friend so we'll see what happens?
omg i hope not. cuz i'm nothing like his best friend... thank goodnes.. a female version of that guy and..something has got to be wrong with the world
Hmmm nah.. my boyfriend is completely different from my two best girl friends. Maybe he's kind of similar to my old guy best friend.
If anything, my boyfriend is my best guy friend :P
I had a girl best friend who we made a promise that if neither of us were married in 8 yrs, we'd marry each other. 6-7 yrs later, I could tell our promise was affecting her current relationship and I already knew she wasn't the one I really wanted to marry so by some chance, we had an opportunity to push each other away and we did. She's now happily married to that guy...
No, I don't think I can marry my best girl friend. If they become my friend, that means I have no attraction toward them already.
@mwaaaxxBbaaayBbeee@xanga - Yeah, that's what I've always heard
Eh - not so sure.
I find qualities that make me want to be friends with a dude are different than qualities that attract me to a girl.
Though I'd probably recommend that my best guy friend date my sister. :)
I Doubt It.... But It Can Be Possible
However, I Believe More In The Possibility Of Them Marrying Their Best Female Friend..... =PI don't know about it from the guy's side, but I wouldn't mind marrying my best male friend =)
My best friend *IS* my boyfriend.
But he's nothing like my best female friend.
But I could see myself dating a male version of my best female friend.
@irishgrrl690@xanga - It definitely specified best GIRL friend. So, you're allowed.
my best friend IS a guy but i don't see myself marrying him. and the guy that i do like is kinda like my best female friend. they have similar characteristics but him and i share more of the same views on different things in life. they're kinda similar but not exact replicas. good point though, i think it's sometimes true of people.
Hmm I suppose that has some merit to it. But I think romantic relationships are so unique from the relationships we have with our girl friends. It's like a deeper level of friendship. I mean, at least ideally that's what I think.....
no, don't think so.
There might be some truth to that.. But personally, I'm nothing like the guy version of my boyfriend's best friend.. I am my boyfriend's best friend of the opposite sex though. He's able to confide in me in more things than he's ever been able to confide in his best friend about.. I think that says a lot but that's besides the point. I think most people do end up marrying their best friend of the opposite gender.
