Please Don't Call Me Your "Wifey"
This is a guest blog submitted by El_Prego_Nikki. You never try me
Always stood right by me
Make living lively
Highly spoken of
My only love
The only one, you're my wifey
Make my life complete, sweet
But you know when to flip it street
Freak, but only when it comes to me
See that's why you're my wifeyMy fiance has called me "wifey" on two occasions. The first I let go with a warning, the second warrented a swift kick to his..well...hiney!
I think "wifey" is kind of degrading to the title "wife", making it sound childish.Am I the only one who cringes at "wifey"? Is there a nickname or pet name that gets under your skin?

I can't stand terms like "wifey" and "hubby."
I love pet names for the most part. Unless someone uses it when we're arguing, then it pisses me off. But otherwise...not really. Wifey, wifeykinz, just whatever...it's affectionate to me.
Buuut that's just with my friends. If I were actually married, I would really rather not be called that. Nor would I call him hubby. That's kinda...no.
Yeah, "wifey" and "boo". I don't know why, they just sound childish. And not in a cute way.
I hate the phrase "my girl" or "my man". They absolutely drive me insane I actually cringe when someone says it. When my ex called me his girl I almost yelled. I think its very degrading and disrespectful. It makes it seem as if the person is just an object that you own, like there is no equality in the relationship. ::cringe::
I also hate the word wifey and hubby, but not as much as the "my girl" and "my man"
ugh wifey and hubby. hubby especially.
I see them as just words that teenagers who really think they're in love use... It's like calling them by their childhood nickname...
If you're really in love with somebody, there are much better ways of letting him/her know.
I didn't even know hubby was a childish term for "husband", but the first time I heard it, I was not entertained in the least. ._. Wifey is a lame term, as well.
my ex used to refer to me as his "ol' lady" i hated it!
I agree with above comments. Its for teenagers in highschool. Id be like
if my bf called me that...
@BkLyNzzzHoTTeStLiLgUrL@xanga - I HATE it when my fiance calls me his woman! It drives me NUTS. Or when his friends tell people "Oh I'm with Joe and his girl"...Excuse me, I have a name! Y'know?
i like wifey. but i guess that's probably because i like calling my friends that. i'd probably get annoyed at a guy saying that. surprisingly, i can't stand the phrases "babe" or "baby"
My Hub called me Spaz, many times, for years...i hate it.
He should not call you anything that you do not like---period!!
I think it's funny when my bf calls me wifey, it's always in a sweet way and never seems "degrading" to me.
I usually call my girlfriends by their name...I believe that's why their parents gave them their names...
I like to use "wifey" to refer to other people's SO, but never my own...
"So where's the wifey?"
"Is the wifey at the mall with your credit card?"
"Wifey watching the kids?"
It's not so bad...
I don't think wifey is too bad, although I wouldn't normally say it. I've never been much of a nickname person. I would rather call them by their name.
What's wrong with wifey? Gosh. Obviously it's each to his/her own.
@whatyourBFreallythinks@xanga - yeah, i agree
hell, it's a COMPLIMENT. the guys be like "dammn, i can't WIFE" her..meaning you have all the characteristics..and traits..capable of being THEIR wife. it's a compliment.
don't datingish.com this..it's not that big of a deal. if it's childish, just tell them to stop
@TakingxOverxMe@xanga - I think the reason they use those terms is to describe a SO that you haven't married yet, but either want to, or they feel like you are their married spouse. So, I think that's why they use that term so often.
I agree that it sounds childish but I don't think it is degrading to the wife term. Nevertheless, the swift kick to the butt sounded necessary since you don't like it. Lol.
Depends on the age I guess
Highschool kids / College/ Uni - they always go : wifey / hubby
Whats even weirder is
18 years old calling each other fiance / fiancee - when there's no ring what so ever - and they've only been dating for like 2 month?
I think thats absolutely ridiculous
Along with facebook status: MARRIED*
When obviously they're NOT
@immaairheadxl@xanga - I think you mean "I CAN wife her". First off, that IS a compliment. Secondly, it's completely different from "wifey".
And another thing, you shouldn't say ignortant things like "don't datingish.com this..blahblahblah". Had you taken notice you may have realized that a conversation had spawned from it. Also, had you read the post you'd have read that I HAVE told him not to call me that.
But, hey, atleast you live up to your Xanga name.
lol..nickname of any kind cute or not cute is not my cup of tea...
@phuck_diz_shiz@xanga - AGREED! And middle school kids who've been "dating" for all of two hours and "love" eachother. Can be cute, but it's mostly annoying.
Given, I'm 18 and engaged without a ring. lol But we have a date set to be married, we've been together since 5th grade, and we have a daughter...
i never really thought about it. i don't use the term wifey myself...
