This is a guest blog submitted by a Datingish reader.Brownie and I love each other very much. He is one-of-a-kind of guy - he wants to be the best boyfriend he could ever be and he is everything that I am looking for. He is the FIRST guy that my sister has ever approved of. And he plans on making our relationship "official" when he comes home from studying abroad. (By official, I mean that we get the boyfriend/girlfriend title.)
Brownie recently got sick and he took some NyQuil last night. Before he went to bed, he said something that caught me off guard. Here's the conversation...we were talking about his meeting my great aunt at a family function a while ago.
he says: have i met family from your mom's side?
I say: yes
he says: i like your great aunt
I say: she's pretty cool
he says: she actually talked to me!
I say: hehe, i think she likes you too =)
he says: weird huh?
he says: maybe she realizes that im gonna be her future nephew in law
I say: what? O.o
he says: i mean
he says: LOL
he says: nevermind
I say: future nephew in law? :P
he says: these drugs are making me feel funny
We are in our early twenties. I am in my third year of college and he is graduating soon. I don't know if it's too early for us to be thinking about marriage - even if we're at the age that anything is possible.
I'm just wondering if guys tend to spill things out like this accidentally, especially for something that could possibly mean commitment? Do you think it was really the drugs or was there some kind of hidden meaning? It seems to me that he was trying to hide what he said earlier or that he didn't mean it that way.

it was the drugs, also late night lack of sleep high does the same to ya, getting drunk, etc
was he misspelling things or just talking ridiculous stuff before? because i think he totally meant to say it even if it was 50-50 joking serious. whats so bad about that? :]
aww, that's so cute...
I don't think it was an accident... it reminds me of one of those stupid hints that a lot of young girls like to drop. I don't know, I think it's kind of weird, haha. If he wants to be with you for the long run, most guys shouldn't be so cutsey "Oh, nevermind" about it. That's an immature girly-ish thing, in my opinion.
Maybe it was his way to test what your reaction would be to the idea. But when you seemed shocked by it, he tried to turn it into a joke/use an excuse. But yeah, that is cute :)
it might have slipped, but i think that's what he had in mind...
haha cute
he finally had an excuse to let it slip LOL
haha, how cute!!!! @SeitekiChibiNeko@xanga - i agree =]
Yeah, dudes do that all the time. Next time, don't be so surprised. Then he'll realize that he let it slip out and be more self conscious about what the says.
And in general, medicine, drugs, alcohol, make everyone a little extra chatty if you know what I'm sayin.I don't think it's too soon at all. I'm sure he has been thinking about it for a while.
I did something like that before, and probably still do. But kept my cool, and explained how we like to verbalize a lot of what we're thinking....even if it is an "IF" situation.
So I would say in this situation, hes being honest and speaking first without thinking in a generalizing manner.
I want the person I love secretly to accidentally confess that would be so awesome!
Not really. It just happens. I don't know about him, but personally, I don't think my friends or me spill things out just like that.
oh yeah, he meant it
Accidental confession does happen for guys. However, in this case there are too many unknown factors to tell if he actually confessing or he is just saying nonsense due to NyQuil.
I think that he was telling the truth to you. me personnally, I sometimes slip and tell people things I don't want them to know. and when the time is right to tell them I get tong-tied, panick, and switch over to a safer topic. I have done something like that when I was pretending to be drunk with my girlfriend just to see what she would say to me.
i think he spoke his mind... i'm sure the drug helped. but since u guys aren't even yet "official," he may have felt a lil weird saying it.
I think a lot of guys do that.
This one guy that I like a lot did that more than once.Yea, it occasionally happens. Seems like there might be some truth to what he slipped out
I think he definitely meant it. He's probably been thinking it for awhile and then it just came out. And he probably freaked when you called him out on it and blamed it on the Nyquil.
How cute.
The most likely chance is that he may have meant it. I don't think that its too early, I think that in the beginning most of us know wether this person is a keeper or not.
hehe that was cute :]
idk i think they do it accidentally =]
"A drunk man's thoughts are a sober man's thoughts."
My best friend tells me this all the time.
My bad, I meant "A drunk man's WORDS are a sober man's thoughts."
well he is ur boyfriend and he told you that because he feels that way of you..i mean he loves you very much that hes set to marry you in the future..so good luck!!!
