  • The Top Ten Breakup Songs for My Generation

I was listening to Jazmine Sullivan's "Bust Your Windows," while on the road, and I realized it was the perfect tune to bust my ex's car to. Now, I would never actually bust someone's car. In addition to the fact that it's just plain wrong, I personally don't have the upper body strength to pull it off. Break-up songs are amazing, though. I don't know one tepid break-up song; break-ups usually don't come in tepid. And nothing helps like putting a little Maroon 5 on your i-pod and cursing your ex's progeny down a couple of generations. So here's my list of favorite break-up songs.

1). Bust Your Windows, Jazmine Sullivan
Bottom-line: You can't just mess with people's feelings / Tell them "I love you," and don't mean it...

2). Makes Me Wonder, Maroon 5
Bottom-line: I still don't have a reason, and you don't have the time / And it really makes me wonder if you ever gave a (#*% about you and I / So this is good-bye...

    3). Don't Speak, No Doubt
    Bottom-line: Don't speak.

4). Before He Cheats, Carrie Underwood
(A soulful, country alternative to "Bust Your Windows")
Bottom-line: And he don't know / That I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive, carved my name into his leather seats...

4). Wake Up Call, Maroon 5
Bottom-line: I didn't hear what you were saying / I live on raw emotion baby / I answer questions never maybe / And I'm not kind if you betray me...

5). Behind These Hazel Eyes, Kelly Clarkson
    Bottom-line: I can't breathe / No, I can't sleep / I'm barely hanging on!

    6). Damaged, Danity Kane
Bottom-line: Do you got a first-aid kit handy?

    7). So What, Pink
Bottom-line: Na na na na na na na/ I wanna start a fight!

8). Cry Me A River, Justin Timberlake
Bottom-line: You don't have to say what you did / I already know / I found out from hiiiim.

    9). Potential Break-Up Song, Aly & AJ
Bottom-line: It took too long for you to call back / And normally I would just forget that / Except for the fact it was my birthday / My stupid birthday.

    10). Ooh Child, Nina Simone
Bottom-line: Ooh-oo child / Things are gonna get easier / Ooh-oo child / Things are gonna get better...

What are your favorite break-up songs? Which one is your favorite from the list?
