Friday Fun: Is Halloween A Free Pass Day to Dress Provocatively?
I always thought Mean Girls captured the whole Halloween epidemic pretty perfectly:
So I'm wondering...are you using Halloween as an excuse to dress more provocatively? If you're currently in a relationship, does your BF/GF approve of this sort of "well, it's just once a year" change? Did you okay your costume with him or her or is that not a problem?

Tonight - no. I am going as Snow White. Tomorrow night on the other hand... Its a pirate themed party, I'll be a hot female pirate.
I don't care one way or the other. It's Halloween. It's just a night to let go and have fun. Besides, as long as i'm there to ward off the prowlers, my girlfriend can dress however she feels. ...within good taste, that is. haha
I'm not dressing up provacatively... I'm going scary this year! Dressing up as a married man =D.
Halloween is the perfect chance for the whores to be a whore and not get pissed at for it. and it's a holiday for the creative to get creative. I've never used halloween to dress "sexy" and I'm in college. I guess I'm that indie chick who's just creative as hell. Last year I was Donnie Darko and this year I'm Ash Ketchem (you know, that kid on pokemon).
Hell No. I fucking hate that girls do this. It is soo degrading. I have always been a HUGE fan of dressing up, and I love to come up with creative and fun costumes. I remember a few years ago I dressed as Sherlock Holmes - huge mustache and everything - and at a Halloween party guys were talking shit to me. "A girl dressed as a GUY? That's just wrong, man..." and I would hear talk about how I must be gay because I didn't dress all slutty.
That PISSED ME OFF!!! Halloween is about having fun, douchebags! It's not a holiday invented to satisfy every man's sexual fantasy!
AHAHA!! I love Mean Girls. For me, I have almost always done what Lindsey Lohan has done in the clip. It's Halloween ! You are supposed to be scary, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE to be scary (although this year, I'm going as a mouse with grey leggings and a long-sleeved grey shirt, so hah!) :P It seems we've lost the true Halloween spirit. :PP
@midnightXsun@xanga - I completely agree with you !
It's not as bad if the girl was really dressed up or trying to be creative. If a girl dresses scantily with just cat ears and then calls herself a sexy cat, that's just plain slutty. At least look like you tried!
Then again I am a guy, so I can't complain tooo much
@midnightXsun@xanga - Wow, you should have said, "At least someone could do this to me and it wouldn't hurt." Then, knock one right into their nuts.
I'm a Hogwarts student either way, so... XD I mean, I guess I am accompanying it with a short plaid skirt and three-inch Mary Jane's, but whatever.
Most woman that dress provocatively on Halloween usually dress revealing anyway. They like to flaunt their young skin and if they're not bones or flab, why not?
Eh.
I only have a problem with dressing like a slut when it's obvious you didn't mean to go as anything at all. If it's just an excuse to show off, I have an issue with it. But if you put thought into it, it's creative, and still kinda slutty, I'm perfectly fine with that.
The Mean Girls girls are a perfect example.
*dons lingerie and cat ears*
"But Dad, I'm a cat!"
yeah, right.
I'm not sure...but I think if it's creative and something to with the look in general fine. But if it's like everyone is saying too...cat ears and lingerie only and calling it 'sexy cat', then no.
I've dressed sexy for Halloween a few times, and generally nothing scandalous...just not into that. Poor excuse for being slutty.
That's a lame excuse.
You still look like a hoe. I don't care if it is Halloween.
Halloween is definitely not an excuse to dress like a complete whore. I never see myself doing that. Ever.
And I'm sure my boyfriend wouldn't like it too much if I did either, unless, of course, we were having a party for two. :P
First off. I don't need to okay with him on ANYTHING. I can dress however the hell I want to!
Second. Hhahahaha, I don't even like to wear clothes >=[ But I'm covered all the time.
Gives a crap, it's still for fun. Dressing up! JOIN THE PARTY! party poopers
No I don't dress provocatively normally and I wouldn't use a holiday as an excuse to. There's just something wrong with using it as an excuse in my mind... :-/ To dress fun and creative, yeh I'm totally for that though.
embrace it.
i wouldnt like it if my gf dressed skanky for halloween
but i wouldnt tell her not to either.
i unnos im just like that
I FULLY SUPPORT FEMALES DRESSING PROVOCATIVELY ON HALLOWEEN
Yeah, women use Halloween as an excuse to dress up as the skanky whores they want to be. It's pathetic and distasteful.
I'm not dressing up this Halloween. I'm being classy and getting trashed with my best friends in my dorm room.
i can dress up super sexy or not at all for Halloween...it just depends on my costume idea that year. this year i'm going as Jigglypuff the fat pink Pokemon haha very not sexy!
I say absolutely...haha. It is one night of the year you can dress up anyway you want, and us guys can't say anything. So, ladies take advantage of it :)
a fews years back when i was with my ex she dressed up as a schoolgirl and she was hot. it was flattering that she got hit on all night. once a year is ok, well twice, including my birthday as well.
I am myself for Halloween, yes how sad. After I grew up and wasn't dressing up for candy, I don't see much of a point to it.
i haven't dressed up in a long time. Even when i did it wasn't too big a difference. the typical vampire or something not out of the ordinary.
Though, hearing some of my friends talk about what they're dressing up as, they actually are more revealing and provocative than usual. It gives them a time to just step outside their character and be whatever they want.
