LionYesterday on the train ride home, a woman got on, and because the train was
mostly empty, I started looking in her direction I normally don't do
that, but she was gorgeous.
A few seconds later her boyfriend came on
and gave me That Look...the one that said, "why the F*** are you
looking at my girl?" I quickly turned away and went back to listening
to my iPod. I couldn't help but have a quick laugh about it. I mean,
seriously, the guy should take it as a compliment if someone looks at
his girl, not give a dirty look.
It's not like she was going to leave
him for me, right? If I was in that situation I'd just be thinking, "look all you want, but you can't have her," instead of giving dirty looks. I'm also pretty sure the girl wouldn't mind the
attention.

I keep telling my boyfriend all the time that it is a compliment to him and me when other guys look at me....he doesn't see it that way lol.
Of course it's a compliment if a guy looks at me(at least the way you mean). Sometimes it makes me uncomfortable, ut it's still a compliment.
To another guy, you're asking to get your ass kicked. To a girl, it's probably a compliment.
I think it depends on the guy who is looking.. if he's skeevy-looking, I'd be creeped out. Then again, I live in NYC so I've grown accustomed to throwing dirty looks or walking past someone really fast & not making any eye contact when it comes to catcalls & stares.
If that happened near my boyfriend, he'd only hold me closer to him.. :)
my fiance only gets pissy like that if the guy is blatantly being lewd about it, for instance obviously staring at my ass. But I agree, I think as long as it's not in an offensive manner, it's complimentary. I'd feel ugly if guys didn't look at me from time to time!

it's a big compliment when guys look at women... but it's a fine line... gawking, gesturing or anything else crosses a line and then it becomes a big no no. my boyfriend really gets off on the fact that guys will hit on me, go out of their way to talk to me or look at me, it boosts his ego *shrugs* it's just when guys get a little too friendly when he starts getting aggressive.
i believe is it a compliment when a guy looks at you, only if he is looking at you in a nice and appropriate manner :)
but i'm the type of person that don't feel comfortable if people look or stare at me.
There's nothing wrong with looking. If her boyfriend's that possessive he'll probably drive her to do more than look, anyway. But it does cross the line when you keep looking after he gets there.

i think it might make him feel insecure, though, so i can understand why some guys wouldn't like it. but as long as you're not looking back and winking, i see no problem. :x
I get uber jealous and defensive at the smallest things. It's not that I'm insecure about the relationship either, because if she's going to leave me for whatever guy, I'd rather it happen sooner than later. I get defensive because I know how annoying it is for women when they receive unwanted attention, (such as guys hitting on them when they aren't available) and I don't want your looking at her to turn into something more than just looking at her. Getting defensive closes the door for that (and deadbolts it) before it opens. :)
if you are cute or not troll-looking, then yes. if you look like a creep, then no it's just creepy.
after my ex and i went to the local show, he told me 'so many guys were checking you out today'. but cuz he was proud to be with me, not jealous =]

It is really a compliment when a guy looks at me. Like you said, it's not as if I would up and leave my boyfriend and run away with the staring stranger.
Different people give different expression. Not necessarily when a guy looks at a girl, it means it could be a compliment.
It could be many things. Like the guy could be in a daze or deep in his own thoughts,not knowingly that he's looking at the girl.
OR
It could be the girl has a nose shit hanging at a nostril and the guy probably keep looking at it, wondering when the nose shit will drop.
Nah whenever somebody would check out my girlfriend I'd always laugh and say something "You like what you see? 5 bucks and she's yours!" My girlfriend would just laugh. And I've just laughed when people give me dirty looks for checking out their girlfriends. Never got into a fight over it, though.

It depends on the person. If you're covered in vomit and holding a dirty needle, then yeah that's creepy - and if this is you, please don't try to follow me home.

It's a compliment depending on the type of look. If you're smiling kindly and looking awed, that's definitely a compliment. If you're looking me up and down, I don't care if you're cute or not, it's a huge turn-off to know that you're turning on some creepy guy.
it depends on the kind of look you give, but i believe the one you gave is a compliment. if the boyfriend can't deal with guys looking at his girl, maybe he should have opted for an unattractive girlfriend instead!

I think the best way to handle it is this. When another guy looks at your girl, remember it IS a compliment, and then smile to yourself about how it's too bad your girl already found someone as studly as you, cause that dude don't stand a chance!
