Mr.
LionThis morning I was reading about the upcoming Apple Notebooks on a
tech forum when I came across a post about a girl who decided to go to an Apple
store to meet guys. It worked for the girl - two Brazilian
businessmen tried to pick her up.
I found this post hilarious
because I would have never thought the Apple Store would be a place to
pick up guys. Has anyone ever been in any of those stores? They are
always packed! I guess because there are so many guys in the store,
there's a higher chance, but it's hard to get around let alone stand
and chat with someone.
The usual places women go to get picked up
are
the gym, or a bar, not a retail store. Plus, if a guy is going to spend two or three thousand dollars on Apple products, he'll want to go home
and play with the new toys or he won't have any more money to take a
girl out.
When I clicked on the title of the post, it also had a link to a
Cosmopolitan article that listed places to meet guys and the Apple store was on top of that list. Part of the list is as follows:
- Working at a Fortune 500 Company - Majority of incoming employees in the field are men.
- The weight room - Mostly men pump iron. Go to the weight room and ask for help.
- Political campaign or rally - Supposedly they have smart, passionate guys involved in politics.
What are some other places women go to meet guys?
Have you ever been picked up at any of those places? Have you ever tried meeting guys at these places?

well as i guy i just thought i would say i have gone to the grocery store and have left with not just grocerys!
so i guess if you are looking for a certain type of guy, why not the apple store.
lol that IS a funky idea. but alot of people meet (from what ive seen) in the most casual of places.
The Apple store? haha. Maybe I should go there more often. But it has a funky smell in there, so maybe not.
Apple store? Guys? Funky smell? It all adds up!
I've never thought about that. Maybe it would work! =)
I would go to the apple store to try to pick up one of the guys working at the Genius Bar. I love nerdy guys and the apple store is full of cute, nerdy tech gurus.
And I'm sorry but the whole concept of the gym being a great place to meet people appalls me. The last thing I want when I'm sweaty and smelly and out of breath is to have some guy come try to pick me up.
i probably wouldnt try the Apple store and i agree with hopelessromantic that the gym is not the place to be go for guys either.
i find it easier to meet people just sitting in a ped-mall and people watching. its interesting how many people approach you when you stare at them. lol
Nope, when I go to the Apple store is strictly for business to check out the new things that have come out. Although, I have seen a fair amount of cute men in there.
nope.. i don't go out to pick up on guys.. but when i go to a lounge, event or birthday party, usually with boy(s), and get asked out by guys..
maybe that's what I'm doing wrong, I don't know where to find them...a thought.
most random places i can recall from top of my head right now are..
1. jury duty - young good looking successful businessman..
2. when i took my car in for a fix-it ticket (no front license plate) - investment banker (who was also there for the same thing).. he gave me his business card.. i didn't give him my number & never called him b/c i felt i didn't meet him at a good place.. =P
3. atm - tall good looking & funny but when i talked to him, i lost all interest
I love the Apple Store! Everyone is nice (I think it's a Mac user thing?), and I can also admit to having partaken in an attempted pick-up at one.
I think any place that you frequent is a chance to meet new people... why not a new guy/gal? If they're going the same places as you, there's a good chance you have something in common. (Even if it means you just like to go to the Starbucks between 9 and 12 on Saturdays :P)
If I was still single...I'd go back to college and pick guys up there. Schwing!!!!
Lol never thought about that before but totally makes sense! (At least in my mind)
That's interesting.. I guess it makes some sense? 'Cause once you're out of college [& you're still single], where else do you expect to pick up a guy?! Except the gym. Bad idea. I wouldn't want to be hit on while I'm sweaty & smelly.. yuck.
I'm glad I don't have that though.. I find it a bit scary dating a random person.... I met my boyfriend through mutual friends in fellowship during college. [Christian fellowship.. sort of like a club. :)]
The number one place for picking up chicks/dudes is at a bookstore. after that it's college parties, then uhh clubs lol
My apple store is filled with teenage asian kids like myself every Saturday.
I do not why, but seeing so many asian people taking pictures on the MAC computers kind of freak me out.
I just go in just to play with the pretty laptops and hope I can have one while trying to avoid getting hit on.
Do not get me wrong. Some of those fellas are pretty darn hot. I am just not into it. :]
@ALMOST_Spankyyy@xanga -
I concur... if you go to apple store to pick up, you're probably after the types who don't leave their computers for 24hrs.
I've been to more than one appl store and they all smelt like major BO... guys who haven't showered in days.
he will only want to take the computer home and play with it instead of taking the woman home and play with her instead if he's gay or really really nerdy/geeky like me.
Haha, the Apple store? I am honestly surprised because I would think the guys that are there would be too busy drooling over all the gadgets to notice a pretty girl.
I like the grocery store idea, or even Starbucks.
man, talk about double-standards. if a guy goes anywhere other than a club or a bar for the express purpose of picking girls up, it's creepy.
anyway, i can't answer your question (not being a girl and all), but the best place to pick someone up (from what i hear): the laundromat. from my experience (so-o-o-orta-- a couple of the baristas supposedly had a thing for me): a coffee shop.
well..once an Apple helped to trouble up a couple..sometimes can do the opposite..uh?
Ladies, if you ever want to pick ME up, Bob Barr is having a rally in Gainesville
i picked up my ex boyfriend at disney world :D we went out for like 2 years!!
I meet many at the gym and Barnes and Noble. I should try the Apple Store though, that's a good one.
I've never "picked up a guy" but I really like(d) the idea of doing so at an Apple Store. I'm a huge Mac fan and I'd love to go in the store and be surrounded by other "fans" who might happen to be male because that's one thing in common, right off the bat. Plus, being in a place that I really enjoy brings out my "brighter hues" and makes me feel more comfortable. I've heard that the best place to meet someone is to go to a place you truly enjoy or might truly enjoy (if you haven't yet been there), instead of the "standard" place that everyone goes because it seems like the "best place to go" when really it just might be the best place for them.
Then I realized that this was just another Cosmo-recommended place to go and that turned me off of the idea a bit. Apple Store's shouldn't just be another singles bar, I mean you shouldn't go in just to meet guys or girls. You should go because you're actually interested in Apple products or go in for assistance with something and then maybe you strike up a conversation with someone else who's there for those reasons. Don't go with the sole intention of finding someone to take on a date because then it's just like a trapping expedition... you're hunting them down.
Seems kinda creepy to me.
