This is a guest blog submitted by breakingthemold."You really should come to my dorm and watch 'Grey's Anatomy'
with me some night," he told me with a wink as we put things backstage.
I rolled my eyes and tried to think of a cute saying to get out of it.
Derrick was an intern at a school where I was working - he was a really great guy
with a hilarious personality. We worked together a lot, teasing and
poking fun at each other all the time. There was a lot of flirting going
on and as we got to know each other better he started to get a bit more
personal. The problem? He was 24....and I was 16.
I never lied about my age; he just never asked.
And with the position I
was working in, the staff agreed it would be best to keep quiet to most
people about how old I really was. But I hadn't realized that keeping
it quiet meant keeping him in the dark as well.
So as the
weeks went on, he kept getting more and more friendly. And as closely as
we worked and the things we did, there were many occasions when the
innuendos and flirts were easy to make. When we first met and things
started, I didn't think twice about our ages or even notice the
flirting; I was a young naive girl.
But as the weeks went on, I realized that it was becoming a real issue. I kept thinking, "How do I get out of this without
making a fool of either of us?"
Finally one day he brought
up something that I had no choice but to tell how old I was. I have
never seen a guy's eyes get that big and a person jump that far back!
Shock and fear were in his eyes and I almost started laughing. He
didn't touch me again until the day he left when he gave me a hug.
Unfortunately that's not the only time that's happened. I
seem to have this thing for fooling 24 year old guys...
Have you ever fallen for - or been - jailbait? Do you look your age?

My friend went through something like this once before, she told a guy that she was ten years younger than she really was, and when she told him, boy did that go over well...NOT.
I'm 22, I'm told I look 18.
I'm sure it happens.
It happens. People mistake me for a 15yr old. I'm turning 19 in October. *sigh*
LOL well that's a sucky situation, too bad you weren't 18 or you could have dated that guy :(
I also get told I look very young, when I was 17 I could get in for a 12 year old at the movies.
I'm 22 now and my friend (who is 27) has a hard time believing I'm older than 18 =P it sucks....
I'm 20.my hair stylist thought I was 14 until I told her my age!
I was two years ahead in high school, so I got inot the habit of introducing myself by grade instead of age. I never lied, but it was common enough to hear me introduce myself and say "I'm a senior at Apopka." It was just so awkward when people found out and they would ask weird questions about how that happened and such. I had a few situations where college boys and I were flirting and I'd have to be like, "This isn't fair of me; I am graduating in may, but I'm also sixteen." And it was mostly always awkward. I'm still friends with a few guys I met under flase pretences though. (:
I'm 31. always have been told I look younger.
I had the opposite problem--when I was 19 and my sister was 14, some of her friends thought I was her mother. I'm also involved in community theatre and have been playing characters in my 40s-50s-60s since I was 26. And without adding "aging" make-up...
yea i look out for age... i could get arrested...
so age is about the first thing I'll mull around for... and as long as their about 4 years younger than me it's fine due to me being mid-20s... anyone younger and it's just kind wrong... even they are 19... cuz it's still teens and 20 is walking a thin line for me...
my rule is, if she doesn't look 27, i'll need to make sure. that's how they do it when clerks card "kids" buying alcohol and it works for me. i look younger than my age, but i don't really care, i'm a guy.
Im def jailbait... since most of my close friends are older than me it's not that hard.
wow. i feel like taking a shower now... jailbait is scary!
You don't need to tell them your age. Just tell them you like the friendly environment but that's all it is and would not want to pursue more than that.
I usually meet girls at 21+ clubs. As long as they're 21+, I have no problem :)
I'm 17. Apparently I act older, look younger.
People just don't know what to do with me.
PS, I love that you used Tux in a jumpsuit. Nice!
I'm feeling a bit old at heart. It's a good thing that I am not; otherwise, I would be extremely sad lol
Some people think im 16, but then some think in 23, Im 19. When I was 13 a guy who was around 20 was filrting with me and I told him im 13 and he said nevermind!
I'm 20 and people mistaken me for a 12 year old...almost every time I meet someone new. I learn to deal with it. It's sad though, because my sister is 24 and almost everyone thinks that she's my mom. It's sad.
@GaMeGurLsH@xanga - If the other person is over 18 and your not, then you do need to tell them, you never know when something might happen, alone or in a group
Guys lie about their age too. But for some reason they only shave a year or two off. I'm not sure what difference that makes.
I'm 25, actually, and people tell me that I look at least 17. LOL ^_^'''''
I've been told thatI do look older, yes.
