Favorite Cheap Dates for When The Economy Is Horrible
Filling up your gas tank costs $40, if not more. Your bank's just been bailed out. Your stocks are tanking.
And you still have to impress a guy (or girl).
What are your favorite cheap date ideas ?

for groups? drive-in movies. it's eight dollars a carload. take someone's mom's van and pile the whole crew in. :]
I will always be a fan of pizza and a movie :)
picnic!
make it a netflix night... and make them dinner. you'd be surprised at how cheap.
OR, for me in the winter, go to NYC it's like 12.50 r/t per person... on the train. and you can go to somewhere free. i just wanna see the tree anyway... so we can eat at home!
the museum.aquarium.zoo is always an awesome cheap place.
in ny they have these people that drive buses to take you to certain places for real cheap. sightseeing is always cool
Well, frankly I love a walk in the park, followed by watching a movie.
It's what I did yesterday with the boyfriend: Walked around taking pictures and then settled down to watch my new copy of Sleepy Hollow.
i love grabbing a movie for a night inside and then splitting for snacks and drinks :]
my favourite cheap date? i guess my cheap dates are more time consuming.
my favourite is (if the weather's nice) pack a picnic with some sandwhiches (perhaps favourite cold cuts or egg salad or chicken salad sandmiches or whatnot) also make some sort of dessert and some sort of salad. a meal for 2 people less than 20 dollars, and you get to spend the day walking through a park or something.
or if you aren't outdoorsy.....i guess rent a movie and make din din or order pizza?:P i like pizza:P hehehehe
My all time favorite cheap date is what someone said above: make it a Netflix night! Nothing is better than sitting down, watching a movie, having a pizza and wine over some candlelight..snuggle up on the couch....
Otherwise? I'm big on nature walking/hiking...picnics in the park, be a tourist in your own town...
I think people really overlook the benefits of staying in for the night. Sitting out on the porch or balcony...just taking life in, letting it pass you by for once instead of trying to run as fast as you can with it...but that's coming from a country girl.
Picnic in the park or maybe a free concert or museum?
Cheap dates? Definitely at home (you can cook dinner by yourself, that's very impressing), or picnic in a park (you can bring the food from home). My favourite cheap date is eating croissants (or something like that, big mac lol) on the bench by river, very romantic and cheap :D
Ordering great cheap hole-in-the-wall greasy Chinese take-out, taking it home, and eating it on the sofa over a favourite movie.
I like going to the arboretum and bringing a picnic lunch or if you want to do something fancier, you can always both dress up and go to a nice restaurant and shrare a dessert or each have a dessert martini. It's not as expensive as a full-course meal but you can still feel "fancy" and have that ambience and enjoy each other's conversation.
my fiance and i like trying random restaurants around our area (now philly). we usually hardly ever go above $20.Â
it was harder when we were back in california. there, we usually took our DSLRs and explored new places.
-A picnic. :) [My boyfriend & I did this this past summer. He brought the jars of pb & jelly & I provided the drinks. I found a great deal on iced teas -- buy 1 get 1 free! So we got 4. :D]
-Cooking together at home & then watching a movie you downloaded. [That's probably as ghetto as you can get but it's definitely cheap & very cozy. Plus, cooking together is a sensual experience & it also makes me feel better than I'm not the only one in the kitchen.]
-A walk somewhere.. through the park, by the river. Props if it's late at night & you're star-gazing! & then grabbing a hot chocolate/coffee/tea afterwards. [This is fun especially in the winter. My boyfriend & I went to see the tree in Boston & ended up throwing snow at each other.]
-Any special activity that you can find that's unique to your city. [I found a Life is Good festival a few months back in Boston & we went there & had a great time. The festival was free but there was a suggested donation for food.. I'd say we spent a total of $4 & had 4 slices of pizza & a bottle of water. Then we got a free nalgene & filled that with ice. :) Can't beat free stuff!]
go to costco during lunch time. :] hahaha
Going out for a slice of pizza and taking a walk? That sounds good. My sister and her husband said the guy who ends up with me is lucky because all he needs to do is take me out for pizza or a hamburger and I'll be ecstatic.
Almost anything outside. I love taking a walk through campus, playing ultimate Frisbee, window shopping, going to a free outdoor concert, walking through the city, anything that gets you outside!
renting a movie and making microwave popcorn is FAR cheaper than any movie theater. plus, if you end up missing the movie for certain reasons that involve cuddling, kissing, etc, then you can always watch the movie again!
rent a movie instead of going out to watch one... though it works either way for me, since my boyfriend works at a movie theater and can get free tickets.
go over to someone's house for dinner instead of eating out, like eat with your SO's parents. it's a win-win situation, free food, and you on their parent's good side. :)
In general, cheap dates are usually the best. I mean, it gives you the opportunity to really know the person. Instead of being impressed/blinded by the "show" they put on just to impress you, you're really just getting to know the person. It's better for everyone, really :)
I like staying in, cooking dinner (or getting takeout) and watching a movie or just some tv. With my boyfriend now, we'll play videogames. It's a ton of fun and we're really silly about it.
@sugarskull@xanga - hole-in-the-wall restaurants are the best!
A group date is the best and cheapest especially if you haven't been together very long. DVD's, pizza or someone or everyone fixes dinner. You can always break away later to suck face or bump uglies, especially if you're at someone's house.
Well.. personally I enjoy a trip to the park. But as far as a cheap date.. a stay-in with a movie I guess.
Walks in the park, grabbing a movie and cozying up with a bowl of popcorn, going out for drinks at a local coffee shop.. or you could be creative?
