  • Friday Fun: When Cheesy Love Songs Attack

My mom used to love Monica's song "For You I Will" - I think she liked the melody more than the lyrics, but she'd sing it all the time when it was popular.

I will cross the ocean for you
I will go and bring you the moon
I will be your hero, your strength, anything you need
I will be the sun in your sky
I will light your way for all time
Promise you, for you I will

Aww. So I know it's a metaphor for *~how deep love can be~*, but . . . no. I can understand crossing the ocean to get to someone but bringing the moon is just impractical. Where do you expect to keep that? It doesn't fit in a closet.

Also popular is the insinuation that no valley is too low (nor mountain too high) to get to someone; I guess if you have access to a large crane or a helicopter, you're set. Ooh, a love song about a helicopter could be fun . . .

What's your favorite awesomely bad love song cliché? (Bringing the sun, moon, stars or sunset for your love? The phrase "I would die for you"?) If you can't think of one, what's your favorite cheesy love song?
