When Romantic Scandal Hits Your World
This is a guest blog submitted by sleepyhead.
Here in NYC, you can't walk a block without seeing a Gossip Girl poster plastered on a wall - they're everywhere! From the few episodes I've seen, I noticed some of these scandalous stories are possible in real life. I can't think of many but one stood out from high school. It started out as a rumor but eventually turned into a full fledged scandal. My science teacher, Mr. S., and one of the guidance counselors, Ms. G., were supposedly cheating on their SOs with each other.
I was in his class and got to know him pretty well - he was one of the few teachers that was really down to earth and gave me life lessons. One day I asked him what was going on with him and Ms. G. Instead of answering, he deflected the question on me by asking what was going on with me and a girl in his other class. We laughed it off, but I knew something was going on.
A few weeks after I asked, he was invited to Ms. G.'s wedding in Hawaii; that's when the rumors got even worse. Mr. S.'s wife didn't want to go because of their young kids. He didn't want to miss his "friend"'s wedding. Her fiancé was mad that she invited a guy he'd never met before and they began to bicker.
Ms. G. turned to Mr. S. for comfort and they allegedly slept together the day before her wedding.
She got married and seemed happy. I remember her coming to school after the wedding; she couldn't stop talking about it to anyone willing to listen. Mr. S. and Ms. G. continued having breakfast and lunch together. When it was time to graduate, I figured they were just friends because the rumors had stopped. No one talked about them anymore.
When I went to visit a few years ago, both had left the schools after administration asked about their alleged affair. I heard from other teachers that it did happen; they'd both divorced their spouses and were living together. I couldn't believe any of this, but looking back it was pretty evident.
They NEVER denied any of it - they just pushed it aside instead. He always talked about their trips together. It was all clear, he opened his mouth to other teachers and slowly word spread. It was such a scandalous story for us in high school. It could have been an episode of Gossip Girl.
Did a scandalous event ever happen at your school or in your personal life? How did you deal with it?

THAT TOTALLY HAPPENED IN OUR SCHOOL [highschool, i am in]
there was a man [he finally retired 2 years ago] he was my world civ teacher and he was pretty cool. MR. H
he had grandchildren and everything
and there was our librarian, apparently she use to be a beaut when she was younger
they both worked at our school since a long time ago
and MR. H was married
and apparently they had an affair
they got married i think, last year?
they went on a honeymoon and everything
i don't know. i feel bad for mr. h's wife
but he was cool. i got a 95 in that class, LOL
Nothing like that happened while I was in school that I know of.
But according to some an English teacher is dating a Physics teacher, while the Physics teacher is supposedly married, or something like that. I don't know much nor do I care. It's their business, not mine.My middleschool history teacher texted some..inappropriate messages to one of her students. Let's just say that it had some rated R content.
She went to jail, about a week later, o_o
Wow... nothing like that... but small rumors of course. That's bound to happen in high school (or anywhere, really).
In high school I had a Spanish teacher that, well, had a way of making all his female students uncomfortable. The last time his students saw him was before Christmas Break. After that we had a permanent substitute for the rest of the year.
The next year, the story came out that he had been having an "affair" so to speak with a student. She was 16-17 and he was well into his late 20's, early 30's with a fiancee. He wanted to stop the affair, she accused him of rape. He was asked to leave his teaching post, was put on trial, and convicted. She moved out of town. It got put in the newspaper and everything.
It's a sad thing really in this day and age. Girls grow up too fast and men don't always know how to handle it.
Wow. What a scandal!
When I was in high school, two of the male teachers started dating girls in my class. We were seniors at the time. Now one of the couples is engaged and the other couple is still together. GROSS!
Hmm the only thing I can think of was back in elementary school, when two male teachers got fired within about a year of each other because one apparently patted a girl on her backside and the other was caught a massage from two 13- or 14-year old girls. No romantic or affair stories that I can think.
Many happened around me, and I just didn't pay attention. Simple as that.
This is too "common" for me. I experienced this kind of relationships during my working life.
This is not the worst case.
Can you believe it when a married lady is having affair with a guy and at the same time having sex with her ex "bf" all behind her husband?
No offense but two teachers having an affair is not nearly so scandalous as gossip girl - where Blair's boyfriend's married step mother is having an affair with her high school aged boyfriend... Favorite line from last episode:
Nate: "When the best case scenario is that I become Blair's father-in-law, I think it's time to move on."
Oh Gossip Girl, how I love thee.
A professor of mine got involved with a student. That was pretty scandalous to those of us who knew about it. But I think most of us were just jealous because he chose her and not us
Hm. Not really, but the only thing is that there is a new cop guy at our school and every girl... I guess...wants him, and thinks that he is the hottest thing ever. (oh,and he is...really hot :]) And he like knows that we all oggle him because he flirts with all of the girls. lameee.
You have nooo idea how many "purses got stolen" this year. lol
Yeah, that's it.
Back in middle school some teacher student mumbo jumbo was going down.
Lol... uhh, perverted teachers and teachers that were so handsome students wanted them...I think my school had about 2 of those, but one was married lol. And of course, there were rumors about how some female teachers were coming on to one of those male teachers. But that was the extent, it was all just small rumors, with nothing actually happening. The real scandal was how in my freshman year, 2 students at our school were caught in sexual acts multiple times in different places and were then expelled...
oh dear...i had an algebra teacher that dated his student aide in jr. high. his wife was a language arts teacher at the same school. word was that they divorced because of here catching them in action.
I don't have an obsession with these scandals(not saying YOU do btw).
Well, just this year a scandal broke out in my school! This 16 year old girl in my cohort (ours is an all-girls school) apparently accepted and returned flirty text messages with a Math teacher. Then things got worse when he started showering her with gifts and she went around proclaiming that she has "a thing for older guys".
Everything ended (I think) during our cohort camp at a chalet because the teacher snuck into the girl's room at night and had sex with her there and then. Thing was, each room was shared by 4 girls, so the girl's 3 roommates started telling everyone about their night of passion.
The teacher quit soon after the school suspended him.
Well, he'd always been the Hot and Very-Sought-After guy since high school, I heard, and his marriage (yes, he's married!) was a shot-gun one. He even has a 3 year old son and his wife suffers from depression.
In my boyfriend's year in high school, a teacher slept with a student. The student bragged that he had banged his hot teacher, and word got out and they went to arrest the teacher.
They offered not to fire her if she promised not to do it again, her reply was "I cannot make that promise" and she was promptly fired.
What a whore.
I wonder if this means I should start watching this show.
Not that I remember. It would have been a hell of a lot more exciting if this was the case, though.
