Can I Join You for Dessert?
This is a guest blog submitted by sleepyhead.Recently, I went to dinner with a friend from a national news network. That particular day, we happened to be in a restaurant sitting near some of his coworkers, some of whom are pretty well known in local and national news. When they recognized my friend they insisted we come over and join them for dinner.
While we're enjoying dinner and cracking jokes, a gorgeous woman in her late 20s wearing a long blue skirt came up to our table. She asked one of the guys if he was the local sports reporter. "Who wants to know?" he asked.
She said she loved the local sports guy and thought it was him...she was hoping to meet him and get to know each other better after dinner. This guy was a very smooth talker, so he told the girl to come back in a little while and join him for dessert.
She went back to her table, and all of her friends were giggling at the news that he agreed to have dessert with her. I was surprised this woman had the guts to come over and ask, but I kept wondering why she did it in the first place; she was gorgeous and had money and could go after any guy, but she wanted him. I understand he's well-known in the sports community and has ties with many different athletes, but she looked way out of his league. She was absolutely stunning. What was it about him that she wanted?
A. The power – He knew so many people, she wanted to be a part of it.
B. Wealth – Even though she looked like she had money, more is never a bad thing
C. To get her sports fantasy out of the way
D. She actually likes him.
What do you think? A, B, C or D?

Crushes are crushes. Who knows why.
Well we can rule out D, because she doesn't really know him. Let's just call it A and attribute it to networking.
It could be D
B is also a good choice

Well if what she is saying is true, then it's obviously D!
She may also have a thing for sports, and hey guys LOVE that. I'm assuming she doesn't mind that he makes alot of money, she seems to be truly interested in him to muster up the courage to ask him in front of all his coworkers like that. It takes guts to do that. Looks like this guy has a (non) secret lover!
a combination of C and D
People have irrational crushes hahahaha.
How about E, she was acting on a dare from her friends.
A and B, I would think.
why do these things never happen to me?
it's possible she just wanted to be able to say she had dinner (or dessert, in this case) with someone famous. i can say with a fair degree of certainty that it's not choice d. mrcolorful's choice e also crossed my mind.
My mom has a crush on the local weather man. I betcha if she saw some one who looked like him at a local eatery, she would have to go up and comment. It's possible this woman is the same way.
I think I know what it is......I stopped talking to a lot of people from high school, but sometimes when I go to their facebooks, I get envious that they still talk to other people from our high school and they have the inside scoop on what is happening in their life........i miss knowing what's happening and being in the middle of everything, feeling important. I think this is a classic case of "i want to be in the middle of everything".
Maybe she thinks he's attractive too. I personally like guys for their personalities, not much for their looks. They can be mediocre but their personality will seal it for me and they will be wayy more attractive to me after I get to know them better.
E. It was a dare.
Hmmm...I don't know which answer to go with...maybe E?
Anything can happen. Like you said, she was rich, so she could do anything she pleased.
A + E
A) Power
She can tell her friends she was with someone "famous-ish"
Also, if she goes out with him, people can see she's on the arm of someone from TV.
E) Attraction to celebrity
People are generally attracted to more famous known people.
none of the above. he's on tv. that makes him sexy.
D, and ur just jealous to be talking smack about the whole thing.
A and B most likely.
That woman was sure gutsy. Honestly, I can't even begin to think why she would go up to the guy. Maybe she just wanted to get to know him. Maybe she wondered how he really was in real life. When I see my favorite actors or actresses (however attractive I think them to be) on TV or the big screen, I often wonder how they really are in real life.
@XXVl@xanga - agreed...totally a dare.
Maybe she's just on the prowl! Haha
C and D. Nothing to me from your post says money or fame.
D. people like who they like, even if we don't think it makes sense.
i think its the celebrity status (even though he is not really a celebrity)
E. Dare from her friends.
