This is a guest blog submitted by sleepyhead. We all have good and bad dreams, but what do you do about the weird ones? Yesterday I had two friends, both girls, call me to tell me they'd had "inappropriate" dreams about me.
I hadn't seen either of them in a long time, so maybe that was the
reason, but both have boyfriends and are pretty occupied with work.
When the first call came, I just laughed it off - we're really cool with each other so it wasn't a big deal. We joked about her boyfriend finding out. We had a little thing in high school, but that
was a long time ago and we don't think of each other that way anymore.
The second call, which came a few hours later, just freaked me out. It was my other close female friend, and she told me the same exact thing. I told her someone else had called me this morning to tell me the same dream - now that's just weird! We've never had a thing for each other - we met when she dated one of my friends in HS.
What do these dreams really mean? Have you ever had
those dreams about someone other than your SO?

I always thought they were just random images and I always tell my boyfriend about them. They just happen, so they're shrugged off.
im wondering too...
Yeah, I've had dreams like that. Then again, I've also had completely incomprehensible dreams, so at some point, I gave up on trying to interpret my subconscious as a series of messages.
Yup, but I don't think they really mean anything - they're just dreams =)
ahh just enjoy them ;) that's what dreams are for.
I'm a believer that dreams are random and have no particular meaning. It's just the brain playing games on you.
In my experience, sex (I'm assuming that is the 'inappropriateness' you speak of) rarely means actual sex in dreams. It's a connection, instead, something stronger than just talking to someone. Maybe something's going on in their relationship, something innocuous, that made their subconscious summon you into their dreams, like "that reminds me of X" or "X never did that to me".
After my divorce, I used to dream about my ex-husband crawling into bed with me and my boyfriend (who was always asleep for the duration of the dream). I realized later that it wasn't bc either of us were really jonesing for sex, but that we were trying to find a way to reconnect (we have kids). Once I came to that conclusion, the dreams stopped.
Yeah, I have. But never when I've been sleeping beside my boyfriend, for whatever reason.
Sometimes, I can't even identify the man in my sex dreams. Sometimes, he shifts (awkward!). And often, it is my boyfriend, anyway, so it's all good.
A dream is a wish your heart makes...
The last time I had a dream like that (I had a boyfriend at the time too), it was about a friend of mine who I had not thought of in any way other than platonic.
Three years later, that friend and I are together and very much in love.
I don't know if it explicitly meant anything particular at all. But it did make me take a second look at this person and realize that he had the potential to be someone I could be happy with. I very much credit our relationship to that dream.
Whoa, that is just weird! You must have been sending out some crazy magical mind waves that night. You should be more careful with your powers, dude.
I don't think that those dreams mean much, except that those girls find you attractive in some way, whether or not they have boyfriends. What seems odd to me, besides the strange (and flattering) coincidence of it is that they both called you to tell you about it. (Maybe EVERY girl you know had the same dream, but only those two called you!) Because, seriously, I never tell the guy when I have that kind of dream unless it's my boyfriend. And to go the extra mile to call the guy and tell him really seems like a lot. Of TMI.
Almost any guy I have ever had a crush on (and I've been dating my boyfriend for almost 4 years) I have a sex dream about. It's really weird, but I usually don't let them get to me. I feel like it's mostly random.
Yes I have those dreams but they are just dreams. Maybe its a wish my heart is making but I have a good life, married with kids so I don't plan on brining those dreams up....
if i ever have a dream about someone i am currently dating, we always break up sooner or later, for one reason or another. it's weird, but it works.
face it, they both want you. haha. sometimes a dream is just a dream, regardless of it being bizarre that they happened at the same time.
dreams are rarely about who you see in them. it is just your mind working on things and many times has nothing to do with the subject of the dream. i say enjoy the recent attention.
Dreams are dreams... dont be too quick to act on it, but if you feel it'll float your boat, by all means.
woah that's so weird. two girls in one night. haha
I strongly believe that dreams mean something. I have a bunch of books about them and always interpret dreams for friends. It's amazing how accurate in can be to your waking life.
It's possible that you're right tho.. that they only had those dreams because they have seen you in a while. Also sex in dreams don't always symbolize attraction they can symbolize the need for comfort and sometimes even anger. (it all depends on the other details in the dream)
no, I don't have dreams about other girls besides my SO. Other people have had dreams about me, but it was just something to laugh about. I had a friend who had an inappropriate dream about me, and I ended up finding out from her sister. I never mentioned to her that I knew it cause I didn't want to start any sibling fights. She did find out eventually, and we were both clear that there wasn't anything behind it.
I've had a couple of friends dream about us making out. I didn't think much of it, and I tried to stay away from the subject when one of them developed a crush on me. Other than that, I've never dreamt of someone else besides my SO. If I do, they're probably my sidekicks in a superhero dream hahaha
I don't usually have sexual dreams about people I don't have sexual feelings for. It has been known to happen on occasion, though. And one person I had a sexual dream about, I ended up having a huge crush on him a few months later.
I think it depends what kind of sleeper you are. I'm a lucid dreamer, so it's a pretty strong indication of how I'm feeling depending on who I'm dreaming about ;)
When I do dream of friends, we're just hanging out, we're super heroes, or we're having an adventure! (whether it be extreme or just going skiing) ...I've had friends who have dreamt about me..either making out or doing something more sexual/inappropriate with them. Some had bfs too. I didn't think it was a big deal 'till some of them expressed a certain interest...which...I tried to avoid mentioning.
I do think dreams can sometimes express what your heart desires, confusions, or other things. I have a friend who is great at analyzing a dream..lol for real
Dreams are trying to tell us something. But not always what you think. Sex doesn't mean sex. It could mean something else.
I have had "those dreams" before. A few dreams were actually more along the lines of people I know "raping" me, because I was trying to get away when it happened.
The most recent dream was after my husband told me a guy we know offered him $50 if he could sleep with me, most likely just joking around of course. 2 nights later I had a dream my hubby gave him $50 and told him to have at it! I spent the alloted $50 worth of time in the dream trying to keep him away from me, but then got upset when he lost interest in my playing hard to get. Then the guy's gf called him and I had answered the phone, resulting in a worse situation.
Then woke up, and it was just super strange. I have no desire to sleep with any of those people, and a few of the "forced sex" dreams were of people I'm repulsed by.
@spectraredz@xanga - really bizarre
