Friday Fun: Google Me, Baby
I was out with a guy friend the other night, and our conversation somehow turned to Googling yourself and people you know. Get your minds out of the gutter!
So here are your Friday Fun questions: what comes up when you Google your SO or crush's name? Do you ever look people up online after meeting them?

Never Google'd anyone but myself, and apparently I'm a famous author who's book - one of many - was made into a film a couple years back.
Not too shabby for a 17 year old not yet out of high school and couldn't finish anything to save her life.
haha...my sister and brother-in-law googled me sometime this summer and were surprised to find a stream of photographs. Nothing shameful or anything, they just didn't know that I'd done any modeling. lol.
Mostly though, you'll probably find newspaper stories and local road race or XC results.
I google my hubby's first and last name and found a profile on amazon for my step son, and discovered my step son runs an very interesting web page. My hubby is a nobody except for classmates.com
I am also a nobody with a facebook page....
Google doesn't really help, most people are relatively nobodies. I might look them up on facebook or myspace. I did google my name once, and I got a letter to the editor that I wrote for school once, and a bunch of stuff on an art gallery that I visited while on a field trip (my name was in the paper), and for some reason it also shows what elementary school I went to and the years I attended. I googled my boyfriend's name just now but I didn't get anything on him. I guess his name is more common than I thought.
Google is great ... my name shows up many hits ... lol
Nothing good comes up for me (I made sure of it,) but my fiance is apparently a character in a book who "operated in a jungle of money and fabric and
flesh. Success was what he wanted, and sex was his way to get it!" When he showed me that, I about fell off my chair laughing. He was, apparently, in another book, but I can't find that synopsis now. It was almost as good as this one

I've googled a couple of guys, and came up with one guy's credit on the IMDb and a story he wrote for a college literary magazine, and the other guy's multiple profiles on photography sites (as a photographer, not a model). I mostly don't do it for casual acquaintances.
Googling my own name brings up a high school actress (from my own state, oddly enough), a school administrator, and a bunch of genealogical sites. You have to go to the third page of results to find a hit that actually refers to me (some stuff I wrote for my assistantship in grad school).
Last person i dated i did that, nothing came up but there xanga or facebook.
I do it, all the time. Never find much, except old blogs and stuff which always lead to interesting conversations! Haha. Plus it's a good idea to do it on yourself to see what kind of information is out there about you.
My boyfriend is a famous comic book artist, among other things.
I actually have a lot of things come up for MY NAME. I'm a blogger, a member of meetup.com, an honoree for a veritable shitload of things, a member of the Georgia LP, and a former member of an existentialist class.
Granddad from The Boondocks comes up when I search my boyfriend's name which is always funny. I just looked up my name and classmates.com, a myspace, a name directory, and a porn star come up. Seems pretty average to me.
I google myself about twice a year, but I get better results if I google either of my more prominent internet handles.
I do google old flames, former friends, and new people (though we usually do that together, cos it's kinda fun to do!)
the only thing that comes up that actually has to do with me are xanga entries where people commented using my full name and my facebook page.
I've googled myself before. If SafeSearch was off, then porn stars came up...weird.
If SafeSearch was on, a famous swimmer came up.
If I search my SO his PSAL Varsity Swiming profile comes up from 2006 and also his Facebook.
actually, last night i met someone from xanga. i admitted to him that i googled him before we hung out. haha.
I google myself sometimes just to see if people can find me. Thankfully I'm buried :). I do google crushes and whatnot not cuz I'm nosy, but cuz I want to see if they're available, get ideas on what kinda things they're into so I can plan out dates, etc. I'm not obsessive or anything... I swear :)
My husband shares his name with someone famous, so I have no chance whatsoever with finding anything about him in that big mess!
I on the other hand only share my name with some biologist in Europe, so it's easy to find information about me.
Mine comes up the name of a famous restaurateur, which is funny because #1) its not far from the truth and #2) I know the guy.
If you think googling yourself sounds bad what about finger yourself. It was the name of the search engine on Sunset Beach so it's funny when the guy oh crap I can't think of his name asks Meg if she fingered herself. Actually I find it quite disappointing.
I'm apparently a law student, and a doctor at Sick Kids Hospital, which isn't too shabby at all! My bf is apparently a 70 year old korean actor who starred in a few war movies haha! Our actual profiles didn't come up though, sooo I guess we're safe from any snoops!

for myself, a bunch of doctors and places in california come up...and my facebook page...for the boyfriend, a bunch of random crap about nations...lol, before this very moment, i've never googled anyone but myself...
I've googled all my old crush's names before and nothing really came up. Just a bunch of stuff about other people. So it's never worked for me.
I've Googled myself before! There was nothing interesting or good, haha. But when I meet people and I want to look them up, I usually use Facebook.
I googled myself. No one really has my name except some people who have a similar name but different spelling. My last name is hard to catch. What I found were actually interesting but safe stuff. Nothing crazy for someone to try to stay away from me.
