Mr. Macchiato
When Mrs. Macchiato first moved into my apartment, she brought her cat Smokey (see right). It was definitely a shock to my system! My whole life I've had dogs. I
love dogs. They are so loyal and loving... how can you beat that?
Cats
are very different. For the longest time, I thought that cats could
also be loving... it just took them time to warm up to you. But now I
think that cats don't think in terms of love; they're more about trust. If a cat trusts you, she will act in a very loving way: she
will snuggle up to you, roll over on her back, and even lick your hand.
To an untrained observer, it looks and feels like love... but it's
not.
Trust takes a long time to build. Smokey the cat completely
ignored me at first, while she paid close attention to Mrs. Macchiato. This isn't because she didn't like me; I just hadn't had enough time to earn her trust. It wasn't until Mrs. Macchiato left on a trip that Smokey and I developed a bond. Now she trusts me completely (although she still trusts my wife more!).
When it comes to dating and meeting people, some people are like cats. You
can't take it personally if they don't seem to like you at first. They
just don't trust you yet. It takes time for them to trust you... just
be patient, and it will happen. And when it does, it can seem just as
special as love.
Am
I a dog or a cat? I guess I am a bit of both... when I was younger, I
was like a dog - very trusting and loving. But as I get older, I am
more like a cat - I grow less trusting with each passing year. Or
maybe I trust people right away... but only to a limit. And with my
closest friends, it takes years to earn my trust.
When it comes to relationships, are you a dog or a cat?

Maybe a bit of both, but far more cat than dog.
You know what, nah, just 100% cat.
i'm a dog. but i need to try to be a cat too just a bit. i tend to give away my trust too easily and end up getting hurt or dissapointed.
This was a good one, Mister.
Honestly? I'm like a dog that's been beaten and kicked around all his life, but still can warm up to new people with a wagging tail.
Some would call this pathetic. I call it hope.
We can choose to let our past hurts and bad experiences turn us into mean, bitter people. Or we can rise above it, keep our heads held high, and move on in hope for better times.
I'm a cat but my gf is a dog!
I like dogs, though. Like, the actual animal. My gf is pretty cool, too.
The difference is a dog needs your love and attention and a cat could care less.
I wish I was more like a cat in that aspect

I've always said in pretty much all aspects of my life I'm a cat. This just proves my point even farther.
This made me think of the "Diary of a Dog vs. Diary of a Cat", which I think many of us have seen... but I'll post a link to it anyway.
Hilarious.
Diary of a Dog vs. Diary of a Cat
I love how the cat sounds like a chain-smoking french rebel.
I'm a cat definitely, but I love dogs. He's like a dog XD (sounds bad) but he loves cats... I meant the actual animals, although, maybe the people too?? I don't know what I am saying but it worked out for everyone.. Except for the pets because we don't have either...
cat
I'm like a cat. I have to get used to a person first. I'm also very independent. I tend to be attracted to other cats. They make me feel more special, since it sometimes feels like dogs act like they like everyone, but if a cat likes you, you probably did something right.
With life in general... cat. I'm social and friendly, but TRUE friendships (and relationships) are hard for me to come by. It takes time to feel out if you will be worth the intense amount of time and energy I put into a relationship.
Trust is the most important to me. Like my cat, who is only nice to me. He trusts me, and he appreciates me, so he does NOT bite and hiss at me like he does to other people. Haha, I think my best friends and I are more like him than I thought.
Very, very interesting topic! Kudos.
Usually it takes a while for me to trust people, so for the most part, I'm like a cat. But with my fiance, once we started dating, it was immediate trust. So with him, I was a dog!
unless you're the type that doesn't travel and loves to sit on their ass; pets are a pain in the neck
I used to be a dog, but now I'm more and more like a cat with each bad or less than perfect experience with someone.
I'm more of a dog person lol. When I was little, I began to dislike cats after seeing ...either an Alfred Hitchcock or Edgar Allan Poe movie in which a cat came out of dead guy and started chewing his intestines. Now, I don't really mind cats, but I still like dogs better.
I tend to keep things to myself to keep it simple, but I don't mind trusting people to a certain level.
A little of both.
When I was younger, I was total dog. I trusted everyone, and I would talk with anyone!
Now, I'm a cat. I don't like people to really know me..it's painful to have deep conversations that might reveal something intimate about myself.
Who knows..in ten years..I might be something different again?
I'm actually a little of both.
side note - My bf's cat is also named Smokey. LOL ^_^
I've always been a cat type, I think... Though on the outside I'm a bit like an old dog. Friendly -enough-, but it's hard for me to be incredibly attached to someone unless I know them and they know me. By know, I mean inside and out.
As far as the cat in me goes, my trust doesn't come very easily. I'm very affectionate to those I can place my trust in completely, but kind of stand off-ish to those I can't... Thus I'm labeled a loner. :(
When it comes to relationships, I'm more of a cat. I tend to be really caution when starting a relationship. But everything else I'm more like a dog.
I was a dog, but I'm becoming more of a cat
I'm a little bit of both, but more cat like I suppose.
I'm thinking I should lean towards the dog answer. Not like I'll walk up to a stranger and tell them my life story (actually....wait, maybe I have), but I'm generally pretty open. Ask me anything. You're likely to get an answer. An honest answer. It may be blunt; it may be emotional; it may be funny; it will be true.
