I have never dated anyone,  but I could have done when I was 19.

  • petitetokio@xanga

my father placed the limitation of 'you can only start dating when you're 18' and started freaking out when i hadn't had a boyfriend by 19... i think my first proper date was when i turned 20? late bloomer i guess.

  • Mentalist_Jones@xanga

I'd have to say I OFFICIALLY dated when I was 17.

  • laurenmaureen@xanga

well, i had my first unofficial "boyfriend" in 6th grade. i can't even call that a relationship though because it was over the summer, we didn't kiss, we didn't see each other at all, and he called maybe, 4 times.

my first real relationship was when i was in my freshman year of high school. actually, it was a few months ago. he was 2 years older than i was [junior] and i thought he was amazing. until be broke my heart after 2 weeks [short but i call it real because i had my first kiss in that time]. i was a mess, so now my parents are setting an age limit because they didn't think i could handle a relationship at such a young age. 16 is the age now. and quite frankly, i dont care. only because i don't want to be in another relationship for a while. i only have to wait a year so whatever.

@petitetokyo - sounds more like smart bloomer; you avoided a lot of crap!

  • petitetokio@xanga

@adifferentkindofbeautiful - ohhh trust me, i caught up on the stupidness

  • miss_prettyinpink@xanga

14! I think that's a fair age, since that's when you get to high school.

  • xMarleyMommax@xanga

Haha. I had the limitation of "you can date when you're married." But my first real 'he paid for dinner and a movie' date was when I was 19. Before that there were jsut silly high school boyfriend and girlfriend times, and my first encounter was when I was a sophomore.

  • MizconstruedJa@xanga

I guess when I was 20.  But I didn't consider it a date til long after.  I thought of it as "hanging out" at the time.

An agreed upon date... I suppose 23.  Hey!  Don't feel so sorry for me! lol.

  • yumejuju@xanga

My first "bf" I had was in 4th grade. First kiss was in 5th grade. My parents never talked to me about when I could or couldn't. I just did what I needed to do in order to grow and mature.

  • peGGanOra@xanga

I didn't have an age limitation. None of my boy girl stuff was "real" till i guess freshmen year in college... Biggest lesson on relationships learned there... there was one other thing-- then now my current boyfriend :] First kiss~
I don't think I'd want to place an age limit on my kids with dating.

  • Jet_Cabusao@xanga

I didn't really have an age limit... Had rubbish school relationships since I was... 12? First guy took me out and paid for stuff when I was... 14? But I don't really count any of that because it was just childish. My first real relationship(ish) I guess I was 16.

  • SamsPeeps@xanga

The rule was "no dating till 16" at my house...BUT... group outings were fine (unsupervised) when I was 14, just starting high school. So I would sneak a boyfriend into the group!

I dated very little though. I didn't have a GREAT date until after I turned 30, when I met my Ken.

  • BicycleInAutumn@xanga

I was 15. Never told my parents about it, my past two relationships ended. It was high school after all, I guess things like this fades. But they probably wouldn't want me to date at the time until I'm 18, or breaking out of the teen-rebel shell. As for now I'm in a long distance relationship, they haven't said anything about that.

  • eternal_dreaming@xanga

"no dating til college" then once I started college, "no dating in college" -- my parents are awfully confusing & also awfully strict. [for example: I've since graduated from college yet I have a curfew of 11pm.. seriously.]

despite the rules, I found a way to get around it. :) first date was at 16. first "bf" at 17, broke up after college began. & I didn't date anyone else until my jr year of college.. & when I did, I told my parents & they didn't mind 'cause they like him -- even now when we're not really "together" anymore. [its complicated. heh.]

  • alterEGGO@xanga

My parents told me I couldn't date till I was 16. I did start at 13 though. My first date I was picked up a block from my house on a motorcycle and the dated ended when I found out that it wasn't his bike. I ended up walking about 5 miles home.

  • Duyen_the_Great@xanga

@eternal_dreaming - sounds like my parents!  mine was no dating til LAST year of college and when it became my last year in college it was "no dating at all" it was my parents way of saying i can look for a potential life partner by observing my male friends and seeing how they are and THEN picking one i'd like to marry.  lol even now, when i'm 21 and have graduated already, i still have to follow that rule... kinda sorta.

i've had my share of the dating scene though (albeit a small one)... up til now i've only had two bfs and i'm still with the second one.  =)  the parentals did find out about the first one when i was 16 (weren't too excited)... and then i SLOWLY (by slowly.. i really mean slowly... we're going on three years and they've only seen him a handful of times) introduced the second one... both times my mother called them "really good friend" -- her way of saying "is that your bf?"  haha.  so although there were pretty strict rules, they weren't enforced as much as i thought they'd be.  =)

  • allthatjazz62@xanga

I officially went on my first "date" when I was 15.

  • onlyfr33b33@xanga

In my family, there's no dating allowed.
I'm in college now, and this seems to be the message my parents are sending me:avoid the drama in high school, studies are more important in
college/grad school, and after that, hey! now you're old enough to get married!
That being said, I've gone on a few dates but have never had a serious relationship.

@Duyen_The_Great: I kind of get what you're talking about. Even now, my mom will talk about my guy friends when we go out walking at nights, pointing out why I shouldn't be with any of them, and picking them apart. Its pretty hilarious.

  • vvn_0_0@xanga

I only had a "secret" bf when I was 17.
My parents don't allow me to date... they said "no dating until you finish school, yes, school = University." I said fuck that because who knows when I'll finish Uni?
LOL. But anyways, I'm in my 4th year now and my parents don't care if I date anymore. Probably because all my friends have bf's and I'm stuck at home doing nothing. Too bad I can't find one...

  • EmmySueLovesYou@xanga

There was never a rule set for when I could start dating... but I started dating when I was 15. And it was weird... because it wasn't one of those "fake" relationships either. We actually went out on dates, and were 'in a relationship.' 15 seems a little young for that now that I think about it. He was older than me though, he was 17. Same year in high school though. Sophomore. I'm a senior now.

  • Appleninjaa@xanga

I had a "boyfriend" if you can call it that, when I was just a little youngster. Probably only seven or eight. This one little kid kept on following me around and then declared that I was going to be his girlfriend, grow up and marry him. It was cute, but alas, that "young love" never last. ha
But I never wanted to date actually. My parents never set a rule for dating age.  I tried dating and failed, didn't like the fact that I failed, so I just waited, not caring what happens.
But now I am sixteen with my first and hopefully final love. :]

  • lovemonkeyy@xanga

When I turned 16 last year, my parents said I could date. On my birthday my dad asked me why I wasn't dating yet and to come out of my shell. lol
My parents never really talked about it untill I reached high school.

    I don't date right now.
I have school to deal with and I need a job. I have never been asked and I don't do the asking
so we'll se how that plays out. haha.
    ;]

  • venomxcupcake@xanga

I don't really do "dates"... I just hang out. No age restriction. Seriously, no dating until you're 16?! That's ridiculous!

Although my first boyfriend was when I was 16...

But that wasn't due to age restrictions. I guess I was just a loser >_>

  • TiRocKiinPiinK@xanga

The dating age was 16 by my mom & step dad for us girls, but my step dad let the boys date at 14. Mom said it should be 16 for all of us because then we would be driving and could go on a date without needing to be picked up lol.
