Miss Double ShotI'm a late bloomer - I like to think of it as a) procrastination and b) letting my awesomeness incubate for longer than most people need. I had my growth spurt late, I got my license years after my 16th birthday, I became interested in boys far later than my friends did . . . so it only made sense that my first kiss would happen after all my friends'.
I remember being obsessed with getting it out of the way, because after a certain point, it goes from being a fact of life ("whatever, I'll get to it eventually") to becoming incredibly frustrating. I don't even think any of my friends knew - I could usually fake my way through conversations by nodding every once in a while and saying "oh yeah," like I had some vague idea of what they were talking about whenever romance came up in conversation.
Kissing and telling is not how I roll, but suffice it to say when it finally happened, I was happy because I could start thinking about anything other than smooching.
One of my close friends from high school has decided that she wants her first kiss to be at the altar on her wedding day. I was flabbergasted when she told me. How does the courtship/relationship process work without kissing? Abstinence before marriage is one thing, but kissing seems like such a vital part of the whole experience that I couldn't believe that any couple would go through with what she's decided to do.
Since then, I've heard that that this is a relatively common practice. And, to be honest, I admire her tenacity . . . looking back on it, it would've been nice to have my first kiss be with someone I knew I'd be committed to and someone I really loved. I guess I'm a late bloomer by nature and she's one by choice.
Were you a late bloomer? If you don't mind sharing, when was your first kiss?

I have been never been kiss or have kiss a girl yet.
Still waiting for the right person.
I was 15, in his car and i kissed him hard on the mouth only to realize my driver is looking when i pulled back.
Mine was at 16. On prom night. With a girl I had a first-sight crush on for two years. Within sight of a teacher who pretty much despised me. With the girl who was one of his favorite students.
No way, waiting until your wedding day is just crazy. I think I was 15.
16 with the girl i liked at the park
19. Another late bloomer here.
Aww I remember that book! Leo the Late Bloomer!
I was 13 when I had my first kiss and it was the grossest thing ever. LOL.
Spin the bottle in 7th grade and I didn't like the person that the bottle landed on.
i was 16 and it was at a rave! ugh, how pathetic is that?
aww, i was one of those who wanted to get the first kiss at the alter-- a lot of my friends laughed.. i got mine when i was 20-- i'm still with my boyfriend who gave it to me.. he technically just stole it though.. haha..
My first kiss was in the 8th grade with a girl I hardly knew. It was more her lunging on me and me being too shocked to know how to react.
Like my brain was telling me, "Hey! This isn't right! You should get to know her better first!"
Then my other er... well lets just say there was another voice going, "SHUT THE HELL UP! HOW OFTEN DOES THIS HAPPEN! YOU STAY OUT OF THIS BRAIN!"
She sounds like a hottie! There's definitely a difference between choosing to wait out and can't get kissed.
16, and it was actually kind of sweet.
21!
I haven't had my first kiss yet, and I'm actually quite proud of myself. (:
Once in my freshman year (of high school), a couple of my friends kept telling me that it would be cute for me to give my first to the guy I really liked then... but I decided against it. Haha, I won.
I was 24. Guess that makes me a late bloomer. I started being interested in guys about a year or two after my friends did, and I liked lots of different guys, but I didn't have much luck in the relationship department.
I remember thinking, "why is this such a big deal to people?" It was wet. I wasn't sure what was supposed to be so exciting about it. But hey. At least it was in a London hotel room.
The first and last time I was "kissed" was when I was 4.
I'm 18 and still haven't had my first kiss yet.
@FROZENxTEARDROPS - same here ;)
I was 13 but I have one friend that is 23 and still hasn't had her first kiss yet!
I'm waiting for the alter. It will be amazing! (though perhaps a bit awkward haha!)
My first kiss was in freshman year, age 14. In the backseat of my best friend's car as her dad was driving my best friend, my boyfriend, and I home. Ohhh yeah. Thinking back, that was the worst place ever to do it, but it makes me laugh now. My friend still hates me for it.
it was the week i graduated high school, so i was 18. i remember it being really sweet.
I'll be 17 in a couple months and I still haven't had my first yet. And with the way my love life *cough* what love life! *cough* is going, it's not gonna be for a long time. It's really annoying to know that some of my friends have done the nasty years before I'll ever kiss someone. =_="
I was 16 when I received my first kiss. It was sloppy. :bleh: I wish I waited until I was 19, though. That's when I met C, my 2nd boyfriend and now fiance.
