There are two of us writing for this dating blog so far: one boy, one girl (I'm the boy).
We've been working on code names for ourselves (it's hard to blog about relationships under your real name). But it's been tough going... we're not really sure what names to use.
We thought about naming ourselves after characters from fairy tales... you know, in that post-modern ironic sense (e.g. we don't really believe in fairy tales, ala Shrek). So we went to check out Wikipedia's
list of fairly tales for some names and noticed a funny thing: fairy tales are all about the damsel in distress! Think about it... who saved Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella? An unnamed
Prince Charming!
Neither of us wants to be named after a damsel in distress or a stock character! I don' t think there are any names we could use from the fairy tales... unless one of you guys have some ideas?

How about Dr. Janet and Mr. Hyde? :)
Or.... Jan Hatfield and John McCoy?
Wow, I never thought about that. Either the people who wrote the fairy tales couldn't come up with any guy names or Prince Charming really got around
What about names from another kind of love story? Like a tv show or movie? Romeo and Juliet? Lucy and Ricky? That's all I got...
I once read a book where the main character was named Girl and her love interest was named Guy.
I thought it was so simple and easy to relate to by everyone.
@MuseErato - Ah clever, but eventually there will be many people on this group blog, blogging about their dating lives! So we'll need a naming scheme that's got some legs to it...
@tremen -
my next suggestion would be to look into mythology. the ancients were
one of the horniest pple around. hmm i don't know...name yourselves
after the love deities across different cultures?
Hansel and Gretel?
jack and jill
I like @MuseErato - idea of using Greek mythology names. Zeus and Athena? Rock on.
Or you could go with super code names like Mr X and Ms Y. Or go the Reservoir Dogs route, with colors.
Have you ever seen Into The Woods? Also makes fun of fairy tales, and there's 2 Price Charmings (who are brothers) and they fall in love with their princesses, and then eventually stray with... other princesses.
Mr. Spoon and Mrs./Ms. Dish
Mother Goose was my reference.
But since others are going to join this blog to post about their dating lives, I would go with MuseErato's idea.
@AdiOpERsOcoM - How about Spork Romance?
I say Mario-themed names. Mario is no Prince Charming, and Peach isn't your typical princess.
As an added bonus, as more people contribute to the blog, they can take on any number of names.
Or maybe a Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, etc. theme.
So many choices.
oh oh! the 2 characters in Peter Bjorn's Young Folks.
@Allen_Oz - Sure, Mr. Spork sounds fine too. But him or Mr. Fork would just make everything awkward. I mean, three's a crowd.
All the bloggers can name themselves after kitchen utensils and the like. Mr. Knife, Ms. Butterknife, Mr. Stove, Ms. Coffee cup. ENDLESS possibilities.
Giselle (Enchanted) started out as a damsel in distress, but ended up doing the saving. She's pretty cool.... then there's her Prince Edward, but he was weird and people might confuse you with Edward from Twighlight so that's no bueno.
Anastasia and Dimitri
Belle wasn't in distress... Belle was a strong woman who could have any man she wanted but chose love instead...
Tristan (Stardust) was pretty cool once he came around
There are tons of names!!
Mulan, Belle, Pocohantas (disney version), and Ariel are all women who carved their own future....now Ariel wanted the live on the shore and to find Prince Eric...but at least she didnt wait around to be saved
Nora from Ibsen's A Doll House--> she works and is a strong woman who makes a huge sacrifice
sorry, I don't have any guy names...but it's more fun to come up with female names, because strong independent men are the stereotype =S
