Miss Double ShotEx-BF and I had it down to a science: at 6:50 p.m., I'd walk to his dorm with a can of Pringles. He'd let me in at 6:54 (always held the door open for me, good boy) and we'd run upstairs and sit on his futon, eating chips in a can and waiting for Jeopardy! to start. He was the designated scorekeeper, and after each episode, the winner was added to an even bigger scorecard. The loser bought more Pringles.
Then we broke up.
For weeks, I winced at Johnny Gilbert's "This...is.....Jeeeeeeeopaaaaaardyyy!" and couldn't look at a can of Pringles without feeling upset (and slightly richer - I lost about half the games we played and bought more chips than I'd care to admit).
I can watch Jeopardy! and eat Pringles on a regular basis without a problem now, but for a while, I wondered if I'd ever look at Alex Trebek the same way again.
Are there foods or TV shows that remind you of your ex? How do you deal with them?

Not anymore, but for a long time I couldn't eat tortilla chips or watch fight club without wanting to cry for weeks. I'm better now.
I was forced to watch many a reality tv show, for a while I generally avoided them... but there were a few that I found myself more into than I thought. Go figure.
That is so sad. ;_; I never watched television with any of my exes. And I never had a relationship longer than a few months before I met my husband anyway...
Oh man, I can write a whole blog on this subject. Let's see. Because of my exes, I get nervous when I watch Lakers games, football, House, Married with Children, Muppet Babies, Welcome Back Kotter, Mama's Family, Transformers, The Simpsons, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Harold and Maude, Aladdin, 25th Hour, To Kill a Mockingbird, Blood In Blood Out, Ace Ventura Pet Detective, and Back to the Future Part III.
I don't have food or a show that reminds me of ex, but I have a CD I no longer listen to because it reminds me of him.
I continued to do the things that reminded me of my ex because I believe it's all about acceptance and moving on . . . .continue life as you normally would and as time goes, so will the feelings and reminders. =)
PBS and watching feathers fly from a down comphertor i shredder when i caught him with someone else...in my bed... in MY COMFORTER. =(
lol sorry was a little overdramatic for a moment, but thats not a sight or thought I cant help but cringe...and laugh at...
I have those feelings of memories with with my current boyfriend - things between us have changed drastically and now I can't even listen to the songs we used to smile at without crying my eyes out.
man o man yeah let's see..... I can't watch my fave movie The American President or our Mutual fave movie School Daze without thinking of her and I haven't had a Krispy Kreme doughnut since the break up
@EccentricSiren@xanga - yeah me too, we are music junkies so i have like tons of music that makes my thoughts drift to the ex
not now, but there were certain movies I wouldn't attempt to watch because they reminded me of him
